Human Library about EVS opportunities

22 Aug , 2016

Did you know that any European, between the ages of 18 and 30, has the chance to spend up to one year living in another country? Volunteer in different institutions with paid accommodation, travel expenses and health insurance? Come to our “Human Library” event that will take place in Mercado Manuel Firmino, on the 10th of September, starting at 15h, and discover how.

The Human Library works as any other library, you browse book titles, choose the one you want to read and then borrow it for a certain amount of time. The only difference is that the books are people with real stories and, instead of reading the book, you speak with the book! How the conversation flows is your choice. As long as you return the books in good condition, feel free to ask specific questions or chat with them, either way, it’s fine.

For this edition, our books will be EVS volunteers and people who work with them. They will share stories about moving to a new country, doing voluntary work, meeting new people and learning new languages, as well as blending into another culture.

What is EVS? European Voluntary Service (EVS) is an international volunteer program funded by the European Commission, which celebrates 20 years in 2016. It enables young people legally residing in Europe, aged between 18 and 30 years, to carry out an international volunteer service in an organisation or in a public body in Europe, Africa, Asia or South America.

Join us on Saturday, find out more about the European Voluntary Service and explore new opportunities for yourself. The “library” closes at 18h, so you can come anytime from 15h to 17h30. Don’t miss out, this event can open the door for exciting new challenges in your life!
