In order to promote educational and environmental awareness, Agora Aveiro joined the Aveiro City Hall (CMA) and the Fábrica Centro Ciência Viva de Aveiro (FCCVA) to create "Aveiro + Verde", three days of free activities linked to the environment and sustainability. These activities, to be held on June 9, 10 and 11, are part of the CMA's "Days of the Environment 2017" program.

This year the project was divided into two parts: The first part was held in March to celebrate the arrival of Spring with the distribution of hundreds of seeds by those who passed through the streets of the city, so that they themselves could make Aveiro greener. For the second part, similar to the previous year, the Aveirenses returned to the streets to find hundreds of plants scattered throughout the city, accompanied by a program of activities.

Drawing on the spirit of collaboration and mutual aid, "Aveiro + Verde" joined efforts of 15 partners. Associations and local entities that, within the scope of this project, have found a common goal in collaboration for the realization of workshops, exhibitions, astronomical observations, bicycle tours, lectures, field trips, music and social gatherings.

This weekend the FCCVA and the Cultural and Congress Center of Aveiro (CCCA) become outstanding points in the city. The Aveiro + Verde begins at 9 pm in the CCCA with XIII Biology in the Night. 2 days of talks where national and international speakers will talk about themes such as conservation, evolution, paleontology and oncology.

At FCCVA it will be possible to participate in an environment and conservation seminar in Portugal, a discussion on sustainable mobility by bicycle, attend lectures on zero waste, ecological food, ecotourism, and visit a photographic exhibition about the Cabeço Santo Project and a species stand of native plants of the Portuguese Forest.

Also worthy of note is the 2nd edition of Repair Café in Aveiro. With the motto "Say yes to the culture of reuse!", in the Repair Café, citizens are invited to bring broken objects that a team of volunteers repairs, converts or integrates into the creation of new objects. All this for free.

Through the city you can participate in an inventory of fauna and flora, explore the Infante D. Pedro park through augmented reality, take a bike ride through some of the most iconic places of Aveiro, and observe the moon and the planets through a telescope.

Between activities the participants can be captivated by the rhythms of The Music Experience and Freddy Strings.

This project counts with the collaboration of the partners Universidade de Aveiro, Departamento de Biologia da Universidade de Aveiro, Núcleo de Estudantes de Biologia – AAUAv, Associação Académica da Universidade de Aveiro, Quercus Aveiro (Projeto Cabeço Santo), AVE – Herbarium Universitatis Aveirensis, Projeto EduPARK, Centro de Investigação em Didática e Tecnologia na Formação de Formadores, Departamento de Eletrónica, Telecomunicações e Informática, Departamento de Educação e Psicologia, ADERAV, Associação BioLiving, Ciclaveiro, Aveiro em Transição e Zero Waste Portugal.
