Do you need it? So take it!

This action integrated in our project "Random Acts of Kindness" aims to make known the Project Giros of IPSS Florinhas do Vouga

Estimated reading time: 1 minute and 30 seconds

Last Friday, June 29, Aveiro woke up with new clothes: our volunteers dressed the city in clothes arranged on hangers, spread by trees, buildings, and anywhere that needed a little more color.

Anyone who came a little closer would come across a label, similar to the ones that usually accompany your new clothes. But our clothes are not new, they are used. And our labels were not priced, just had a message. The clothes, which were kindly provided by both our volunteers and those who attended our request, were in good condition of conservation and those who found them could and should certainly use them, but we had a bigger goal in mind.

This action, called "Do you need it, so take it", integrated in our project "Random Acts of Kindness", aims to make known the Project Giros of IPSS Florinhas do Vouga. It promotes access to health care, food and personal hygiene for the homeless, through structures such as laundries and community clothes. On the labels placed next to each piece of clothing was the list of the most urgent needs of the project and where each one should be addressed in case someone intended to contribute to this cause.

If you want to contribute to the project, go to the headquarters of the Giros - Rua Santa Maria da Feira nº 33, Bairro Santiago - at the laundry opening hours - from Monday to Friday, from 9am to 1pm. Major project needs include:

  • Shampoo;
  • Shower gel;
  • Blades and shaving foam;Deodorants;
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste;
  • Men's and women's underwear;
  • Footwear (sneakers);
  • Men's jeans;
  • Men's clothing;
  • Sleeping bags;
  • Blankets.

This action was held in with the support of IPDJ - Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth, I.P. and the City Hall of Aveiro.
