The year was 2017 when our EVS (European Volunteer Services) volunteers from Project YELLO (Your E+ Lifetime Learning Opportunity) decided to organize a general knowledge quiz, very popular in Lithuania, which they called “Are You Brain Enough??”. The quiz was so successful we decided we had to make it happen again 2018 to finish the year in style.

From November 8 to December 13, throughout five sessions, the Avenida Café-Concerto bar was the stage for a competition between knowledge-laden teams. The quiz questions varied between the most diverse topics such as gastronomy, science, sports and geography. To aid our participants, some questions had clues in the shape of music or images. Our determined participants had the opportunity to put a whole range of knowledge to the test. The winners of the contest received free meals in the restaurants Porta 35, Grão de Café, Pizzarte and also free trips in the moliceiro boats, touristic trains and other offers from Cale do Oiro.

The “Are You Brain Enough” quiz returned January 10th for a multicultural session in partnership with SPEAK Aveiro. This session was presented in English as it was aimed at a broader audience and was equally a success.

For the Agora Aveiro volunteers involved in organizing the event, this was a great challenge. Teamwork was the cog that made the machine run the smoothest, and exceed all expectations. It was 5 months of hard work, with lots of meetings throughout the nights, where fun was a constant.

The “Are You Brain Enough” quiz was part of our “Refresca a tua Mente!” project by Agora Aveiro, co-organized by Avenida Café-Concerto. Among our sponsors were Pizzarte,  Porta 35, Grão de Café, Cale do Oiro, Solve & Escape, SPEAK, and Fabridoce. The project had the support of IPDJ - Instituto Português do Desporto e Juventude, I.P..
