The “Agora Aveiro Method”

At Agora Aveiro we promote peer-to-peer learning, workshops, debates, and competitions, valuing non-formal education as a complementary strategy to traditional school and university teaching. We encourage young people to question their surroundings - to identify problems and create solutions. We create the conditions for ideas that matter to young people to come to life and challenge them to take the lead, become team leaders, and turn ideas into reality. Projects that contribute to society and have the potential to transform our surroundings, from our street to our city, actively involving them in the community. We foster a space for sharing ideas and opinions and encourage the development of a critical, proactive, and constructive attitude.

How can I be part of Agora Aveiro?

There are many ways - it depends on what you’re looking for, your availability, and your level of commitment. You can join our “Volunteer Academy” and become a “member” of Agora Aveiro, or join our “Volunteer Bank” as a “volunteer”. To become a member or volunteer, you first need to become a registered “affiliate”.

Being an affiliate of Agora Aveiro is completely free but helps the association gain greater visibility and funding. It also means you identify with our values and support our mission.

Volunteer Academy

The Volunteer Academy is our biannual training programme focused on the conception, development, and implementation of projects - local, regional, and international - under the guidance and support of our team. It requires continuous involvement alongside commitment and dedication. The aim of this programme is to equip you with the skills and tools to become an active and engaged citizen. The volunteering programme consists of the following stages:

1

Recruitment

During this stage, we hold a presentation session, conduct individual interviews with candidates, and select new members.

The Volunteer Academy has a single recruitment period each year, usually in March. When the next recruitment session is approaching, we will notify you.

Volunteer Bank

The Volunteer Bank offers opportunities for occasional volunteering without involvement in project creation, ideal for those who just want to support the implementation stage of initiatives. The aim is to provide a shorter, simpler volunteering experience while helping the association carry out its projects.

The registration form is still being developed. Meanwhile, you can sign up to join the Volunteer Bank by emailing recursoshumanos@agoraaveiro.org.
