As Fernando Pessoa once said, “Literature is the most pleasant way to ignore life”. Maybe that’s why, this year, many of us found comfort in the simple act of reading, in the simple desire to grab a book and discover a different reality from the one we were living. Sometimes, all we need is something different, refreshing, where we can focus our mind, far from what torments our daily lives.

Last year, the project “Refresca a tua Mente!” (Cool Your Mind!) arrived in Oliveira de Azeméis, where it found a home in La Salette Park. There it is, up to now, prepared to offer and receive books from all those who want to expand their knowledge in literature or give other book lovers the opportunity to do the same. This year, the project has grown and after being refurbished and decorated, our new fridge is finally fresh to find its new home in Águeda, at Biblioteca Municipal Manuel Alegre. Unfortunately, and because it does everything for everyone’s safety, it too will have to make a small quarantine before it can be exposed in its new home...

Our fridge is ready to encourage reading habits and develop the knowledge of those who seek him, transform sadness into happiness, help find inner peace, and perhaps, who knows, travel the world… After all, at the end of the day, each one of these books will be able to follow their own paths and make their own stories, which will be written by each one who had the pleasure of reading them.

Inside each book, you can find its identification which, with the help of the Bookcrossing platform, you will be able to know, in the future, where our books are traveling to.

Soon, when our fridge is ready to refresh your mind, you will know. Perhaps the beginning of next year will be full of new adventures in mysterious worlds!

The project “Refresca a tua Mente!” (Cool Your Mind!) counted with the collaboration of Águeda’s City Hall and Biblioteca Municipal Manuel Alegre. It also had the support of  Aveiro's City Hall and IPDJ - Instituto Português do Desporto e Juventude, I.P..
