The city of Aveiro, known for its picturesque landscapes and rich cultural heritage, witnessed, on April 13th, the renovation of the emblematic “I Love Aveiro” Staircase, where words regained their vivid colors. As the stairs were restored, Aveiro residents and visitors were able to witness this act of renewal and reconnect with the timeless essence of art and history. Because, after all, in the faded words and fresh brushstrokes of restoration, memories of the past and the opportunity to create stories in the future are preserved.

The first chapter in the transformation of these stairs took place in the spring of 2013, when Agora Aveiro, through the international project "Art and Trust", embarked on an audacious artistic intervention. In 2020, while we were dealing with the social impacts of a pandemic, we took to the streets to renew this landmark and, in doing so, breathe new life into our city. Over the years, it has also become a starting point for collecting and disseminating stories about people, places, and events that make Aveiro a unique city.

This staircase, long a beloved landmark for locals and visitors alike, has once again found itself affected by the rigors of time, with the paint fading under the sun's rays and seasonal weather. As a symbol of human resilience and devotion to art, Agora Aveiro's team of volunteers once again got down to business - or rather painting - and restored it to its former glory. The restoration of the staircase is not just a physical repair, but an opportunity to reflect on the passage of time and the lasting value of artistic expression. This action had the support of Montana Shop Porto , which kindly offered us the sprays for this intervention.

As the stairs continue to be a meeting point and contemplation for residents and visitors, they also serve as a vivid reminder of the importance of renewal and artistic expression in urban life. Because, just as Aveiro's stairs were transformed by art and creativity, we too can find inspiration in the capacity for reinvention and renewal that permeates every stone, every brushstroke, and every message engraved in this emblematic monument to Aveiro's vibrant soul.

I Love Aveiro is a project by Agora Aveiro. This action had  Montana Shop Porto as a Partner and the support of the  Município de Aveiro and IPDJ - Instituto Português do Desporto e Juventude, I.P..
